Their habitat is being destroyed

"Their habitat is being destroyed at a devastating rate with development taking place."

ON reading the letter sent in to the Highway Mail dated 18 August, I feel very sad that people can be so intolerant of these beautiful, interesting and entertaining little creatures who share ‘our’ planet.

Their habitat is being destroyed at a devastating rate with development taking place wherever one looks which is bringing the vervets into the residential areas.

This gives one the impression their numbers are increasing when in fact the opposite is happening, their numbers are declining with the many hazards they face such as electric fencing, traffic, dogs, poisons, electric sub stations, pellet guns, etc.

Every living creature has a place and a purpose on this planet.
