The statistics for rhino poaching are horrific, with one rhino being killed in South Africa every 8 hours so far this year. Kearsney boys added their voices to the #RHINOSHOUOUTCHALLENGE after being challenged by Maritzburg College.

Between the 2nd and 1st team rugby matches vs Maritzburg College at Kearsney on Saturday 16 May, the two schools made a joint statement against rhino poaching by creating a rhino shape on the Stott – the main rugby field.

The headboy of Kearsney, Robbie Polkinghorne, issued a challenge to Hilton College, Michaelhouse and St Stithians College to join the challenge.

The legendary explorer, humanitarian and author Kingsley Holgate and Project Rhino KZN spokesperson, Sheelagh Antrobus, were present and both mentioned the important role which the youth can play by getting involved to save these creatures and other endangered wildlife.
