Andane a toast of her team’s runaway victory

“We knew our team would win. We expected this because these girls trained very hard,” said Mashinini.

Two Vosloorus primary schools – Bopang Kgotso and Phumula Gardens – took part in the Vosloorus Primary Schools’ Netball League games held in Phumula on April 16.

Each school fielded two u-12s and u-13s to represent them.

The u-12 teams – Bopang Kgotso and Phumula Gardens- played to a goalless.

In the u-13, Bopang Kgotso beat Phumula Gardens 10-5 in front of their home crowd at Phumula Primary School netball grounds.

The game started at a high tempo, with the home team pressing hard. Their hard work paid off, earning them a first goal a minute into the clash.

But Bopang Kgotso eight-goal hero, Simandla Andane, silenced the home team crowd by scoring an equaliser, a minute later after the home team found the back of the net.

Andane scored another goal to put her side on the lead, a minute later.

Sizakele Mashinini, one of the home team coaches, said they are proud of the girls’ performance.

Andane thanked her teammates for the results.

“We worked as a team and achieved victory as a team. Scoring the goals I scored today was as a result of team effort.
