WATCH: Youth Choir and RADA mix soup with song

East Rand Youth choir and RADA partner up to bring sing along soup kitchen to MES beneficiaries.

A grand initiative saw the light on August 21 when Rape Alcohol and Drug Addiction (RADA) and East Rand Youth Choir partnered to entertain and donate to MES Kempton Park.

Along with a warm cup of soup, the homeless and destitute from the inner city heard angelic notes sung by young ones as the ladles poured.

“We come to MES once a month to deliver food for about 50 to 60 people. Since the canteen only serves lunch, we give the food so they may have something in the evening,” said Helena Tilston from RADA.

“Today is a soup kitchen outreach in conjunction with the choir. We sponsor them and they do outreaches for us, like when they were overseas they helped raise funds for RADA.”

MES acting branch manager Helena van Blerk expressed her gratitude.

“As a branch, we cannot change the lives of people on our own. RADA’s and the East Rand Youth Choir’s interest in our organisation really supports us in achieving our goals.”

This isn’t the only initiative made possible by RADA, as they also work to support old age homes, homes for the disabled and orphanages.

“We also have a training division where we do all types of training, from soft skills training to learnerships. Most of our training is done for underprivileged learners,” explained RADA’s Donovan Michael.

RADA and East Rand Youth Choir members partnered to donate to and entertain the inner-city dwellers at MES Kemtpton Park on August 21.
