Beauty queen motivates Phomolong Primary learners

Beauty queen gives lip service to learners.

2019 Miss Unity SA finalist Koketso Marakalala spent a day with Phomolong Primary School’s Grade Seven learners, motivating them to take their studies and life in general seriously.

As part of her community outreach programme, Marakalala visited this school last week Thursday, where she also donated sanitary pads to young girls.

“I believe we all have dreams and these dreams don’t just come true. We all need to work hard for our dreams to be realised. The first step towards achieving our dreams is investing in education. As you know, education is the key that opens every closed and locked door,” said Marakalala.

“Remember, nothing in life comes easy. To be what you want to be you have to love what you do. You can’t expect to pass and do well in your studies but you hate studying, reading, dedication and working hard. Before you surprise your parents, teachers and friends, start by surprising yourself in these two last terms of your primary education. Show yourself and the people around you that you have what it takes to succeed. Remember, hard work pays off,” she continued.

She said she chose this primary school because she wanted to target the Grade Seven learners since they will soon graduate to the next level of their educational journey.

“Next year, you are going to be starting a new journey with your high school education and believe me, it’s not going to be easy. This is where challenges and temptations start. When you are there and surrounded by challenges and temptations, always remember who you are and where you come from. Remember that our parents are working hard to ensure you get all the school necessities, such as uniform, extra study materials and pocket money. Therefore, we owe it to ourselves to work hard and strive to succeed and change our destinies,” she motivated.
