Motorcyclist dies in horror accident on Monument Road

His step-son said his last goodbye to Naudé as they were on their way home together from Pretoria.

A Glen Marais real estate agent Charl Naudé died after a head-on collision between his motorcycle and a Ford Fiesta on Sunday evening on Monument Road near the corner of Concourse Crescent.

Sec Pros and Emer-G-Med on site attempted to resuscitate Naudé but he was sadly declared dead on the scene at 6.50pm by Sec Pros medical respondent Stephan Henderson.

Kempton Park SAPS Spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali told Express on Monday morning that a case of culpable homicide was opened and is currently under investigation.

“An accident occurred on Monument Road at about 6.10pm where a green Ford Fiesta and a black BMW motorbike were involved, which led to the driver of the motorbike being fatally injured. The other driver has not yet been arrested as the matter is still under investigation,” said Mtshali.

According to Naudé’s stepson Gideon du Preez, they were both riding alongside one another on their motorcycles on their way home from Pretoria. “We both stopped at the red light at Woodbridge Square. We said goodbye as I turned into Fiskaal Street on my way to church.”

Little did he know that Naudé would die only a few hundred metres from there.

Naudé’s body was found metres away from the scene of impact.

The driver of the Ford Fiesta collided head-on with the motorcycle of Charl Naudé on Monument Road on Sunday evening around 6pm. Naudé was declared dead on the scene after paramedics attempted to resuscitate him.
