Women’s empowerment event hosted to exit August with

SheRocks women's empowerment event in Tembisa.

KillerEvents hosted the first annual female empowerment event called SheRocks at Ribs Circle on August 30.

Just like most Women’s Month events, SheRocks is centred on celebrating women. But unlike most women’s celebration events, the line-up consisted of female artists, DJs and speakers only. No man was allowed to speak or perform.

The event was aimed at empowering women in business and the entertainment industry and motivate them through life’s challenges.

Johannes Jay Pila, the organiser, said by bringing female artists, female entrepreneurs and career women together to discuss issues they are faced with in their respective industries of work was the main purpose of the event.

“The event was highly successful, given that women from different backgrounds and experiences came to our event, exchanged contacts. Connections were made and new possibilities created,” said Pila.

Sale and communication director of Ribs Circle Thabiso Percy Sebake said the event benefited them by bringing in a large number of customers, twice as much as usual on a regular day.

“We are a restaurant based much in collaborations. We are always looking to partner with local brands and event planners,” said Sebake.

As the event proceeded, artists who blessed the stage were Double Blacks Entertainment (gumboot performers), Thabza Berry (headline act), Bubu Binca, Miss Fischer, Cherry DaShe, Mphokuhle, Diana Reigns, Enhle (comedian), MaGee, Ritah and Jaynef, and Ndivhaleni Netshiavhela (career woman).

Thabza Berry stole the spotlight with her dance crew and qgom hit single Just Enjoy.
