Two dead, four injured in three-car crash on R23 near Monument Road
Two other people were found to be in a critical condition
Two people were killed and four others injured in the early hours of Sunday morning when three vehicles collided on the R23 near Monument Road.
Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, said ER24 medics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene at 2.30am to find the vehicles on the side of the road. Several patients were found scattered around the scene.
On closer inspection, medics found the bodies of two men trapped inside two separate vehicles. Unfortunately, both men had already succumbed to their injuries. Nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead, said Meiring.
Four other patients were assessed on the scene. Two were found to be in a critical condition while two others had sustained moderate injuries.
The patients were treated for their injuries, and the critically injured provided with advanced life support interventions before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
