Crime awareness campaign in Thembisa

The Thembisan asked attendees of the Mthandekayo Foundation's stakeholder event at Mehlareng Stadium if they thought the event would make a difference in Thembisa.

The Thembisan asked attendees of the Mthandekayo Foundation’s stakeholder event at Mehlareng Stadium if they thought the event would make a difference in Thembisa.

Here’s what they had to say:

Hector Mokgotho: I doubt that this event will lead to meaningful changes. If the police were here to promote accountability, why did they leave without hearing our concerns? They’re evading responsibility. Without a CPF chairperson, we lack a vital point of contact for addressing these issues. Tembisa’s resource deficit is evident.

Frank Mokoena: There are a lot of things we’re not satisfied with; however, the meeting went well. Food parcels were given to victims of GBV, among other things. What’s surprising is that the people they’ve been calling aren’t present, and now they are leaving with the food parcels instead of giving them to residents in need, despite not being on the list.
