Matric learners treated to lunch ahead of exam preparations

Destiny Independent School, in partnership with Barons Kitchen, treated its Grade 12 learners to a special lunch to recognise their hard work and keep them motivated as they prepare for their final examinations.

Grade 12 learners at Destiny Independent School received a welcome morale boost when they were treated to lunch on July 13.

The initiative, organised in partnership with local food vendor Barons Kitchen, recognised the hard work of the matric class and encouraged them to keep studying hard during one of the busiest periods of the school year.

Principal Kayla Minnar said initiatives like these play an important role in keeping learners motivated, while involving parents and the wider community helps reinforce that support beyond the school gates.

“I want to keep them as motivated as possible because it’s a tough year for them. I want them to maintain the high energy. From past experience, we’ve seen that keeping learners motivated helps them stay focused, and the results at the end of the year reflect that,” said Minnar.

Barons Kitchen representative Cindy Cloete said the business was pleased to support the learners as part of its commitment to giving back to the community.

“We believe in paying it forward. We may not always be able to contribute financially, but this is our way of giving back in whatever way we can. When you give, you receive. Everyone is facing challenges, so this is how we choose to make a difference,” said Cloete.

The matric learners expressed their appreciation to the school’s management and teachers for organising the event, saying it made them feel recognised and valued for the effort they have invested throughout the year.

“It’s a show of appreciation and reinforces the mission that Destiny believes in. One of our core values is that we are a family. Events like this remind us that all the stress, sleepless nights, Bioplus and Energade are worth it,” said Uzile Mlambo.

The school encouraged all matric learners in the community to remain motivated and positive as they continue preparing for their final examinations, reminding them that the effort they invest now will be reflected in their results.
