Siyanda runs his way to provincial glory

A Laerskool Millennium athlete impressed on the cross-country circuit, earning gold and a spot at the provincial championships.

Athletes from Laerskool Millennium in Wentworth Park competed in cross-country races for three consecutive Fridays.

Grade Two learner Siyanda Makhapela was selected from the three races to compete at the District Championship at Randfontein High School on August 22.

Competing in the U8 age group, Makhapela won gold after finishing well ahead of the runner-up. According to teacher Cindy van Lill, Makhapela already shows excellent sporting ability across various disciplines.

Van Lill added that the school is proud of his achievement and believes he has a bright sporting future ahead.
