
Kagiso SAPS arrested a 24-year-old rape suspect in central Kagiso on 4 June after he had raped his victim at knifepoint.
The victim who was walking along Thulami Street with a friend on 2 June when an unknown man suddenly appeared.
“The suspect allegedly held the two women at knifepoint and put the knife to the complainant’s neck,” says Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso SAPS.
The victim’s friend managed to flee. In the meanwhile the suspect forced the complainant into an unknown house where he raped her at knifepoint.
The victim reported the matter to the police and was able to identify the suspect. The suspect, who was believed to be in hiding since the incident was found hanging around the shops in central Kagiso.
“The suspect was then arrested and later detained at Kagiso Police Station.”
A case docket of rape has been opened against the suspect and he is expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
