An anonymous tip-off led the Krugersdorp police to a scene where a victim was found in a pool of his own blood after being stabbed in the face. The sector police were patrolling the area when they received the tip-off.
“They responded swiftly to the complaint and on arrival at the scene of the crime, the police found an unknown man lying on his back and bleeding profusely,” says Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya from Kagiso SAPS.
The paramedics arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and attended to the victim immediately, who sustained a stab wound above his right eye as well as a stab wound to the chest. He was in a critical condition.
The victim was then rushed to the nearest hospital for further medical treatment.
Another anonymous tip-off from members of the community was given about the whereabouts of the suspect, which led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man on 9 June on suspicion of attempted murder.
“The suspect was found and arrested after the police traced some blood stains to his residence.”
A case docket of attempted murder was opened against the suspect who will remain in police custody.
He is scheduled to make a brief appearance in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
