An Azaadville resident opened his gate for his domestic worker only to find three robbers waiting for him at the entrance.
“It is alleged that the complainant was at his home on 8 June at about 8.10am when he opened the gate for his domestic worker to enter when he suddenly saw three unknown men inside his yard,” says Kagiso SAPS spokesperson, Solomon Sibiya.
The complainant claims that a firearm was pointed at him by one of the suspects as they entered his property. He immediately pressed a panic button after which the suspects fled the scene by foot. The complainant’s son alerted their neighbourhood watch who immediately reacted and gave chase.
One suspect was cornered and apprehended as he fled towards the bushes in an attempt to outrun the neighbourhood watch patrollers. The police are still on the lookout for the two accomplices.
The arrested suspect was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of attempted house robbery was opened.
He is due to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
