
A 21-year-old suspect was arrested in Swanieville for allegedly shooting and robbing a couple of their cell phones and money.
The sector police were patrolling in block 2 in Swanieville at about 11.30pm when they responded to a gunshot they heard nearby.
As they drove to the direction of where the gun shot was heard they were anxiously stopped by a member of the community who directed them to the scene.
The member of the community informed the police that someone had been shot and was rushed to hospital.
“The police rushed to the scene of crime and on arrival found the complainant’s girlfriend who related the matter,” says Kagiso SAPS spokesperson, Solomon Sibiya.
Two suspects allegedly attacked and demanded cash and cell phones from the couple who they held at gunpoint.
After they robbed the couple, the armed suspect fired shots at the complainant.
The complainant allegedly sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and left leg.
The complainant’s girlfriend however managed to positively identify one of the suspects after lodging a complaint on 13 June.
The suspect was then arrested on the spot and a case docket of armed robbery and attempted murder has been opened at the Kagiso police station.
The suspect made a brief appearance at the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on 18 June.
