Pakistan shop owner robbed

A Pakistan shop owner was robbed while sleeping in the back of his shop.

The Kagiso SAPS arrested five suspects for a burglary at a Pakistan national’s shop that took place earlier last week.

The five suspects from Swanieville aged between 18 and 24 years were taken into police custody on 17 June at 3pm for breaking into a shop and stealing stock and cash.

“The complainant, a Pakistan shopkeeper was allegedly asleep inside his shop when he heard people shouting and stoning the shop,” says Kagiso SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.

While confused and shocked from the rude awakening, the crowd of troublemakers started burning tyres.
He immediately informed his landlord to inform the police.

“After the complainant notified his landlord of the incident he quietly snuck through the back of the shop to the back door to his landlord where they waited for police to arrive.”

The complainant later returned to his shop where he discovered that his cash, groceries and airtime vouchers were stolen.

The police later arrived at the scene of crime. Within an hour the five suspects were apprehended and detained at the Kagiso police station.

The arrested suspects have not yet been charged as police investigations continue.

Police are hoping to make more arrests regarding the incident.
