Police catches man tampering with burglar bars

A suspect causing malicious damage to a property in Kagiso was cornered and arrested by police.

A suspect was caught and arrested by police after trying to obtain access to a house.

The 22-year-old suspect was taken into police custody in the early morning on 23 June for committing malicious damage to a property in Kagiso central. The complainant told the police that when he left his residence in central Kagiso on 17 June, everything was in order.

On arrival back from his business trip on 23 June, the complaint noticed that the burglar bars on the window of one of the rooms in the house had been damaged in his absence. The room belongs to his son.

The complainants’ wife informed him that in the early hours of the morning of 23 June, she woke up and noticed the damaged burglar bars of their son’s window. The son was not home at the time of the incident and that the suspect was trying to break in.

The complainant then alerted the police, who responded swiftly and arrested the suspect on the spot.

A case docket of malicious damage to property was opened against the suspect at the Kagiso Police Station and he will appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
