Arrested for false identification

A suspect was arrested in Azaadville for presenting false identification after being pulled over.

A 23-year-old suspect was arrested in Azaadville on 29 June for presenting a false identification document to a traffic officer.

It is alleged that the traffic officer on duty was alerted of a suspicious white Toyota Venture driving towards Azaadville. Suspicious of the driver, the traffic officer signalled the driver to pull over.

When the officer demand to see the driver’s licence, he presented the Mogale City traffic officer with false identification.

“The suspect had no driver’s licence and instead produced someone else’s driver’s licence,” says spokesperson of the Kagiso SAPS, Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.

The picture on the driver’s licence did not match the appearance of the suspect.

“The suspect later confessed that the licence was not his and the car belonged to a Mr Steyn who currently resides in Kimberly.”

The Mogale City traffic officer alerted the Kagiso police who arrested the suspect on the scene.

A case docket of fraud was opened at the Kagiso Police Station. He is expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court soon.
