A 34-year-old murder suspect handed himself over to the Kagiso police after stabbing and killing a member of his own family a few weeks ago.
The deceased’s father received a call in the early morning hours on 30 June to inform him of the incident where his son was stabbed and being rushed to hospital.
The caller informed the complainant that his son was stabbed by his aunt’s boyfriend.
It is believed that the suspect was assaulting the deceased’s aunt when she called him for help.
“On arrival at his aunt’s house with his friends in tow, the deceased was the only one allowed to enter. The aunt allegedly asked his friends to wait outside,” says Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, spokesperson for the Kagiso SAPS.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased in the head with a sharp object.
Paramedics were called and rushed him to the hospital in a very serious condition.
He was announced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The suspect contacted the police on 4 July and indicated his intentions to hand himself over.
He was advised accordingly and he eventually handed himself over to the Kagiso police where he was detained.
The suspect will appear in court soon for murder.
