A woman, Thobeka Makhubalo, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for killing her 19-month-old baby in December 2012.
According to the Hekpoort police the woman killed her baby out of rage after her new boyfriend left her because he did not like the baby.
The woman then told her father that she is taking her baby to his father in Rustenburg.
Instead the woman took her baby to the mountain in Hekpoort where she strangled him to death.
After the baby’s father became suspicious, the police were called and the woman took the police to the scene where the police made a horrific discovery. They found the decomposing body of the little boy. The woman identified the body being that of her son as he had on the same T-shirt and jeans the day she killed him.
The woman was sentenced in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on 14 June.
