A 23-year-old suspect was arrested attempted murder in Rietvallei at about 7am on 28 June.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that it is alleged that on 17 June just after midnight the complainant visited his brother-in-law who was at a local pub.
“In the pub the complainant sat next to his brother-in-law and an unknown man, who later asked the complainant to leave the pub.”
Sibiya says the suspect also told his friend to remove the complainant.
“The suspect’s friend slapped the complainant and stabbed him in the stomach with an unknown object. The suspect also went after him with an axe.”
The complainant sustained stab wounds to his stomach and alerted the police. They responded swiftly and immediately made an arrest.
“Later the suspect was detained at the Kagiso Police Station for attempted murder and a case docket was opened against the suspect who later appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.”
