A suspect (27) was arrested for attempted business robbery in Kagiso Central on 27 June at about 7.30pm.
It is alleged that at about 7.15pm the complainant was waiting for her staff to leave the shop and switched on the alarm.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says the complainant then saw some of her staff being pushed back into the shop by three unknown men.
“The suspects, with covered faces, ordered them to lie down and ordered the complainant to open the cash safe. While waiting for the cash safe to open, one staff member pressed a panic button and one suspect was shot in the stomach.”
Nothing was taken from the shop and the complainant alerted the police.
“On arrival one suspect was arrested. Two of his accomplices fled the scene and the police are still searching for them.”
A case docket of attempted business robbery was opened at the Kagiso Police Station and the suspect appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
