Man escape acid attack

The suspect asked his younger sister for acid to burn the complainant after accusing him of stealing his music system.

A 30-year-old suspect was arrested on 13 July at about 10.30am for pointing a firearm at a man in Kagiso Extension 6.

According to Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya, Kagiso police spokesperson, the complainant heard a knock on his home door at about 9pm and opened it.

“The suspect, well known to the complainant, ordered the complainant to follow him at gunpoint,” says Sibiya.

“He allegedly started assaulting the complainant with his fists, accusing him of stealing his music system. On arrival at the suspect’s residence, the suspect asked his younger sister for acid to burn the complainant.”

Members of the community intervened and the complainant managed to escape in someone’s vehicle to the police station and reported the matter.

Sibiya says that the police responded swiftly and arrested the suspect.

“The complainant sustained severe injuries to his left eye as well as his back.”

The suspect appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court for pointing of a firearm.
