Business robber nabbed

An anonymous member of the community noticed one of the suspects and informed the police of his whereabouts.

A business robbery suspect (27) was arrested at Zulu Jump in Kagiso on 31 July after the community notified the police of his whereabouts.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that it is alleged that on 11 July at about 9.50pm the complainant was busy inside the shop when she noticed three unknown men entering the shop.

“She assumed that the men were customers. One of the suspects suddenly approached the complainant at gun point and demanded cash.”

He says the suspects also stole some groceries and took cash, all valued at about R6 000.

“The complainant was forced into the shop’s office where her employees were being held hostage by the two other suspects.”

Sibiya says that the suspects then locked the shop staff inside the office and fled the scene on foot.

“No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained during the robbery.”

The matter was reported to the police, and a search for three suspects and an investigation were launched.

On 31 July an anonymous member of the community noticed one of the suspects and informed the police.

The suspect was cornered and apprehended.

A case docket of business robbery was re-opened at the Kagiso Police Station and the suspect appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
