A suspect aged 32 was arrested for housebreaking and theft in Kagiso on 31 July at about 8pm.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that it is alleged that on 30 July the complainant lost her duplicate key.
“Her cash estimated at R1 300 and groceries valued at R800 were stolen after she lost the key.”
On 31 July at about 12pm the complainant confronted a woman well known to her and who also used to visit her most often.
“The woman allegedly panicked and promised to return the key but she never did. Seeing that the suspect could not keep her promise, the complainant went to the suspect’s place.”
On arrival at the suspect’s home, the complainant demanded that they go to the police station together where the suspect handed over the key to police.
“The suspect immediately was arrested inside the client services centre and later detained,” says Sibiya.
A case docket of housebreaking and theft was opened at the Kagiso Police Station against the suspect, who already has appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
