Arrested two years after murder

A murder suspect who was in hiding was arrested following a tip-off about his whereabouts.

A 32-year-old suspect was arrested on 12 August for a murder that he allegedly committed about two years ago in central Kagiso.

Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that the suspect was detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a murder docket was re-opened.

“He has appeared briefly in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court facing a murder charge.”

Almost two years ago the police received a complaint of a murder.

“The police proceeded to the area where they found the man after he allegedly was stabbed by the suspect following an argument. He sustained a stab wound to the chest and bruises to the face, and was rushed to hospital.”

“The suspect had been in hiding until yesterday when the police got a tip-off about his whereabouts,” says Sibiya.

The information was followed up and the suspect eventually was arrested.
