Kagiso Police managed to arrest two suspects aged 19 and 23 in Rietvallei on 6 August at about 5pm for dealing and being in possession of dagga.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya says that police received a positive tip-off from a concerned member of the community about a person dealing in dagga, which led to the arrest.
“The suspect allegedly was the main supplier to a number of merchants in the area and nearby areas such as Swanieville, Extension 12, 14, Central Kagiso and Randfontein.
“Following the information, the police proceeded to the given address where they found two suspects in the yard.”
The police searched the back-yard room – which they found locked with five padlocks – and discovered parcels of compressed dagga that weighed 177kg and had an estimated street value of R30 000.
The station commander of Kagiso Police, Brigadier Sipho Ngubane says that his members are making him proud.
“They are confident to clean up the area, doing so to save our children from selfish dealers and suppliers.”
The two suspects have been detained at the Kagiso Police Station where a case docket of dealing in and for being in possession of dagga was opened. They have appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
