Roadblock to show female visibility

Female employees from the Tarlton Police Station together with female youth members held a roadblock before the long weekend commenced.

Motorists who travelled on the R24 from Krugersdorp towards Magaliesburg either had a good or a bad start to their long weekend when a roadblock was set up at the corner of this road and the N14.

Eleven females, including female employees from the Tarlton South African Police Station and youth members as well as some male police officers pulled over 69 vehicles during a woman’s visibility campaign that lasted for an hour.

Female motorists who were pulled over received a rose and a letter to remind each one that she is a beautiful person, with words such as: “Dear woman, I (the Creator) love you just the way you are. Come to Me and tell Me all about your wrestle about being a woman as well as all the challenges that make life impossible sometimes. Talk to Me, I listen and understand, as you are precious to Me.”

At the roadblock vehicles were checked to make sure that their licences were up to date and that the drivers were in possession of a valid driver’s licence.

Some vehicles such as taxis and trucks were searched, but nothing illegal was confiscated.

Only three people had a bad start to their long weekend.

One driver was found to be driving a bakkie without a driver’s licence and two illegal immigrants were found in a taxi.

The female employees from the Tarlton Police Station would like to thank Finlay Flowers for the generous donation of flowers and to Clint Matthews, the chairman at Tarlton’s Community Policing Forum who brought chocolates for all the female employees.
