Woman to heal the nation

Krugersdorp High School was part of a human chain initiative in Pretoria.

Seven girls from Krugersdorp High School (KHS) spent 3 August in Pretoria to participate in a Women in Peace Human Chain initiative.

The 2km chain of women along Reconciliation Road from Freedom Park to the Voortrekker Monument was formed to create awareness about the modern-day challenges that women face, but also to provide a better understanding of South Africa’s history and the common goal of restoration and peace.

Bishop Ellinah Wamukoya, the Bishop of Swaziland, noted that the objective of the gathering was to highlight women’s abilities to come together and heal a nation.

The KHS girls led the chain and it was a true honour to have these young women participating in an event of such great magnitude.

This Dameskring initiative in partnership with the SANDF Chaplain Service aims to promote social cohesion and community cooperation, and it ensured that the Women’s Day celebrations of 2013 were significant.

It highlighted the ability of women from all walks of life to come together and heal a nation, regardless of their historical struggles.

The Dameskring management and members thank KHS for the footprint they left on the history of our Nation, just as the women did who walked before them.
