Coronation Park comes alive at music festival

The Go West! Music Festival is a lifestyle extravaganza that celebrates arts, culture and heritage during and around Heritage Week in September.

On Saturday 28 September all roads lead to Coronation Park for the Go West! Music Festival.

The festival, organised by the West Rand District Municipality, marks the climax of the Go West! Festival Heritage Week celebrations and will be a musical feast with some of the country’s favourite and popular artists performing.

The Go West! Music Festival, which will host approximately 7 000 people from all over the province, will feature artists such as jazz legend, Jonas Gwangwa, award-winning house music trio, MiCasa, songbird Lira, the talented and charismatic Thandiswa Mazwai, as well as soul-warming accapella group, The Soil. Talented singer and Go West! Festival ambassador, Brian Themba, who grew up in Westonaria’s Bekkersdal, will grace the festival stage on the day, alongside many other artists.

“The Go West! Music Festival is the ultimate go-to event of the year, it should be marked on everyone’s calendar, regardless of where they live. It will be hours of excitement and celebration, while being entertained by artists and performers who are the cream of the crop in the music industry,” said Dennis Mangope, the spokesperson for the West Rand District Municipality.

“There’s no better way to spend one’s Saturday than to experience the entertainment provided by a large variety of proudly South African and proudly African musicians,” continued Mangope.

The Go West! Music Festival is a lifestyle extravaganza that celebrates arts, culture and heritage during and around Heritage Week in September. It hosts a series of events and festivities throughout the four municipalities in the West Rand District.
