DA deeply concerned about violent crimes

The DA is concerned deeply about the fact that crime and violence against innocent citizens seem to be on the increase in Mogale City.

The DA Caucus of Mogale City was shocked to learn that Mohammed Sadek Shaik, head of the CPF in Azaadville, was murdered in his Kagiso supermarket on Wednesday 25 September.

Eight men walked into the shop and fired two shots at Shaik point-blank.

This follows the violent death of two other residents in Azaadville, Hussein Laher and his mother, Rashida Laher on 5 August. A group of thugs entered the house and killed two innocent people.

“We would like to express our deepest sympathy with the family and friends of the three deceased Azaadville residents. We pray that the Almighty will provide comfort and strength during these trying times,” says Ward Councillor Lynn Pannall on behalf of the DA Caucus.

“When people are deprived of their right to life by merciless murderers, it does not only affect their community, but the whole of Mogale City. We stand together against the ever-present threat of violence and crime that threaten our society.”

The DA is concerned deeply about the fact that crime and violence against innocent citizens seem to be on the increase – especially in Mogale City. Law-abiding people feel unsafe, even in their own homes.

“We appeal to the Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa and the National Commissioner of Police, Mangwashi Riah Phiyega to initiate and control an investigation into the high crime rate in Mogale City and put systems into action that will rectify this deplorable situation.”
