A 28-year-old woman was raped and attacked in an open veld in Mayibuye in Munsieville when she walked home from work on Friday 21 September.
According to Krugersdorp SAPS spokesperson Constable Tshepiso Mashale, the woman was only blocks away from her house at approximately 8pm when she noticed an unknown man running towards her.
“Fearing an attack she ran in the opposite direction but the man quickly caught up with her,” says Mashale.
“He threatened her with a knife and took her cellphone.”
“It is alleged that the man held a knife against her neck and attempted to strangle her, demanding her to an open veld where he later raped her,” says Mashale.
The victim sustained various injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care.
