A Kagiso woman woke up to the face of a rapist on Monday morning 7 October shortly after her husband had left for work.
According to a police report the woman woke up at approximately 7.45am to find a 22-year old man standing over her bed with a pair of scissors.
Police spokesperson Gloria Maswanganye says the victim was attacked as she woke up. “He stabbed her with a scissor and choked her with an electric cord before raping her.”
The woman survived the brutal attack and appealed for counselling the same day.
Although the suspect fled the scene police were positive that his arrest would follow soon.
On Tuesday 8 October a 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with the rape and attempted murder of a teenager in Soweto.
According to Gauteng police the man was caught in Meadowlands Extension 10 following an anonymous a tip-off.
He allegedly raped the 17-year-old girl and stabbed her in the neck with a pair of scissors after breaking into her house in Rietvallei.
The victim also survived the attacked.
It is not clear at this stage whether the two cases are linked.
The suspect was set to appear in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court.
