In loving memory of Marco

Family thank medical staff for their attempts to save their son's life.

A team of doctors’ six hour battle could not save young Marco van der Schyff after he was involved in a serious accident on Robert Broom Drive.

But his family remain grateful for their attempts.

Twenty-three-year-old Van der Schyff lost control of his Mahindra pick-up while driving in rainy weather on Monday 28 October and sustained serious injuries.

Paramedics who responded to the scene stabilised him and transported him to Leratong Hospital.

“Medical staff at the hospital’s Casualty unit immediately attended to Van der Schyff and did all they could to save his life,” says father Gideon van der Schyff.

The young Van der Schyff sadly succumbed to serious head injuries.

The Van der Schyff family wish to thank doctors Kansilemo and Mphatsoe and nurces Pooe, Sibisi and Moloi for their work throughout the night.

They also thank paramedics, CPF members, traffic officers and emergency personnel who assisted at the scene of the accident.

“We appreciate the professional manner in which the doctors and staff handled the situation,” says Gideon.

Marco’s memorial service takes place on Friday 8 November in the NG Kerk Suiderlig in Krugersdorp West.
