Sweet-filled and supercharged, trick or treaters were able to put their elevated energy levels to good use.

From the fantastically fearsome to the freakishly fabulous, Halloween’s great horrors descended by the thousands on the Brightwater Commons on 31 October.

Horrorwood IV, as the celebrations have been dubbed, presents the opportunity for Halloween enthusiasts across the city to showcase some scary style, much to the delight of all who attend.

The fourth annual Toomie Awards, the event’s fancy dress competition, had some stiff competition, but in the end the evening’s well-deserved winners took to the notorious black carpet to show off their dazzling outfits, walking away with some great prizes.

The evening’s best dressed were judged as follows: in the Pre-Primary category, taking first place was Joshua Hicks dressed as a mummy. The Primary Kids category saw Jessica Fenton walking away with the first prize dressed as a headless girl, while Kiara-Jane Schraade, dressed as Medusa, came in at a close second.

Winners in the High School category included Rita du Plessis, dressed as the Biker Wolf in first place. Not to be outdone, the Adult category featured some impressive wins in the form of Lee Chaldecott dressed as Suckubis taking home second prize, and Justin Rogers, the Penguin Man, walking away with first prize. Kiara-Jane, Medusa, was named the overall winner and Horrorwood’s most hallowed of the night.

Sweet-filled and supercharged, trick or treaters were able to put their elevated energy levels to good use, racing between jumping castles, paddle cars and the enchanted House of Horror. Zombies, fairies, goblins and princesses of all ages were caught up in the fun of hilarious hypnotists and the hair-raising House of Horror.

Attendees would agree that Horrorwood IV was a night to be remembered with all the creatures of the night leaving thoroughly entertained. Until the moon rises on the next Halloween!
