Man survives after being crushed by forklift

A man sustained crtitical injuries after he was crushed by a forklift.

The R24 (Albertina Sisulu Road), dubbed the road of death, nearly claimed another life on Monday morning 18 November when a forklift overturned with the driver trapped inside.

According to ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson paramedics were called to the scene where they found the man to have sustained severe injuries after he was crushed by the forklift.

“He barely was conscious and had suffered extensive and multiple injuries including broken bones, possible head injury and chest injuries,” she says.

Advanced Life Support paramedics initiated treatment on the patient and placed him on ventilation equipment.

As they were stabilising their patient, they called in the assistance of AER24, which then airlifted the patient to Life Flora Clinic for further emergency medical care.

Law-enforcement agencies are investigating the events preceding the accident.
