Premier award for paediatric ward

Leratong is the only regional hospital on the West Rand and has 813 beds.

Leratong Hospital’s Paediatric Ward recently scooped a Premier Service Excellence Award for the Best Service Site in the Projects category.

This came as no surprise as Leratong has shown consistent commitment in providing quality care to patients.

This award was one of numerous accolades this institution has received over the years.

In 2013 Leratong was named the Most Improved Hospital in Gauteng in the implementation of the Department of Health’s National Core Standards.

In 2000 and again in 2007 it was named the Best Hospital at the Gauteng Department of Health’s Khanyisa Awards.

Leratong is the only regional hospital on the West Rand and has 813 beds. It serves the community of the whole West Rand and beyond such as Johannesburg Metro and Carletonville.

This results in severe overcrowding of patients, which causes strain to both human and material resources. Amidst this, this institution continued to serve the patients in the best way possible and this has drawn applause not only from the patients through different platforms of feedback, but from peers and political office bearers as well.

The continuous request to make it a benchmark by various institutions in Gauteng is an indication that Leratong has set a high standard in several areas of service and this has been a result of good leadership and passion displayed by staff from all categories.
