Golfers open their hearts to children in need

Bethany House raised a total of R36 700 that will be utilized to upgrade a local shelter for teenage boys.

A charity golf day held by The Bethany House Trust at the Krugersdorp Golf Club last Thursday (15 May) has been hailed a great success.

The event, held to raise money for the Trust – which aims to break the cycle of abuse in children’s lives and facilitate healing and re-integration into the community – saw a large number of golfers from as far as Pretoria participating.

A combination of fantastic weather and an exquisite location added to the enjoyment of the day during which, according to Governor Marina Hough who is a friend of the Trust, a total of R36 700 was raised. The funds will be used towards the ongoing work of the Trust.

“The money will be utilised mainly to upgrade Ikusasa, a local shelter and development centre for teenage boys in town,” says Hough.

The following players walked away in victory following the Betterball Stableford competition.

• 1st prize: Shaun Alblas and André Joubert with 50 points

• 2nd prize: Daan Joubert and Terry Sharman with 44 points

• 3rd prize: Rodger Ward and Pierre Kriegler with 43 points

• Longest range on the 16th hole: Pottie Potgieter
