Donate a yarn of wool and make a difference
Askari Game Lodge and Spa calls on the public to donate wool to help them achieve their goal to knit 67 blankets for Madiba day.
Who bears the brunt of ice cold winters more than the vulnerable?
Destitute children and older people unquestionably are at the mercy of harsh winters and Askari Game Lodge & Spa is stepping up to do something about this.
Askari Game Lodge is appealing to all their guests – corporate, leisure and wedding guests – to donate any leftover or even new wool to them.
Accountant Natasha van Rensburg initiated the idea at the lodge.
“The 67 Blankets for Madiba Day that was featured on Carte Blanche seems like such a brilliant initiative that we decided to support this fully. We want to take it even further.
“Not only will all staff be knitting their squares for the charity blankets on Madiba Day, but we will continue knitting throughout the year and donate blankets to our surrounding orphanages, schools and charities.”
Askari Lodge previously donated over 60 scarves knitted by the staff for Soweto schools, as part of the GlaxoSmithKline Scarves for Schools challenge. The Guvon Hotel group donated over 250 scarves in total to this good cause.
