Help a local Cinderella go to the ball
Give underprivileged matriculants the farewell of their dreams.
A matric farewell not only indicates that high school is finally over but also signifies the beginning of a new life.
Every girl’s dream is to be dressed like a princess with a handsome prince escorting her to the ball.
For many young girls and boys this remains a dream because of financial constraints.
Out of a need to celebrate the first steps to becoming a young adult, the Bella Swan Project was born, comprising a local group of women dedicated to making less privileged matriculants’ farewell dreams come true.
Team member Heidi Grobelny noticed the financial constraints on some girls in their matric year as the matric farewell drew closer. She and the other team members decided to provide selected matriculants with clothing, jewellery, shoes and everything else needed for the perfect farewell.
To help the girls selected from Krugersdorp among other areas, the group calls on the community to lend a helping hand.
“We are looking for any contribution from you – whether it is your time, skills, contacts, clothing or financial aid – so that we can help these young adults to enjoy their special night,” says Terri Booysen.
“This project is not only for the young ladies, we are reaching out to the young men as well,” she adds.
