Watershed loves the West

The award winning band Watershed will be making their way to Krugersdorp on Friday.

Watershed, the platinum-selling, Sama-award winning band will be making their way to Krugersdorp this week.

news editor Janine Viljoen had the opportunity to speak to the band about what is new, their classic hits and their upcoming show.

The band will be performing at Silverstar Casino on 1 August and says they love coming to the West Rand.

“We love the audience this side and they normally turn out to be amazing crowds, really intimate and like to listen to the chatting in between the songs. What will make this performance different? We keep the show quite interactive and chat about the songs,” says front man and lead vocalists Craig Hinds.

The rest of the band consists of James Sunney on bass guitar, Howie Combrink on drums and Gideon Botes on guitar. Apart from being the lead vocalist, Craig also plays the piano, acoustic guitar and harmonica.

Watershed will be releasing their fifth studio album in October and audiences will be hearing their new track Don’t give up that already is creating heat on numerous radio waves across the country.

But what about their classics like Indigo Girl, Letters and In the Meantime?

“We absolutely have to play these songs. Every time we play them for us it’s also new. It’s all about the crowd response and this is what keeps us going.”

Watershed also recently returned from Dubai and says they are always travelling, especially to Europe.

Apart from the two Sama awards they have won, they also have two platinum and two gold albums and three People Awards for best SA band.

Their smash hit Indigo Girl reached number two on the charts in Europe and sold over a million compilation albums.

Doors for their show open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets cost R150 per person. Discounted prices apply for Silverstar Rewards Programme members.
