Poor cellphone signal fixed after seven year battle
After a lengthy battle, cell phone reception in Muldersdrift is now clear.

If at first you don’t succeed – try and try again. For Ruimsig resident Johann Wasserman this certainly is true.
After almost seven years of struggling with weak signals and, reception in Muldersdrift and surrounding areas, Vodacom finally heard his plea by replacing and upgrading equipment on all the towers servicing the area.
“The reception issue has been problematic for many homeowners in Muldersdrift and this is one small victory,” says CPF Chairman Jorncy Page.
Page says weak signals can play havoc with security systems in the area beause calls are dropped or break up. He urges all Muldersdrift residents to log complaints with Vodacom regularly if they experience problems and to be tenacious in their efforts.
Mike Francisco, security spokesperson for the Muldersdrift Communication Action Group (MCAG) agrees and says residents should call Vodacom’s Customer Care Department on 082 111 (or email customercare@vodacom.co.za) or their Data Division on 082 155 if they experience any problems.
“There must be around 12 to 14 Vodacom towers in the Muldersdrift area and we need upgrades to most of them. If we stand together as a community and campaign we believe there will be further improvements,” says Francisco.
Page confirmed that in the last month Vodacom technical teams had been out to two other towers, and they have conceded that there are problems.
At present the three towers under discussion are Ruimsig, Nooitgedacht South (College Road) and in the Rietfontein (Peter Road) area.
