Local radio man passes

He was an outdoor fanatic and involved with various angling bodies and associations.

Eugéne Strümpher (Géne) passed away peacefully at the Execu-Care Frail Care Centre on Friday 8 August after a long sick bed.

He was born in Krugersdorp on 10 June 1940 and worked at the SABC from 1961 until his retirement in 2003.

In that time he was involved with various projects, which include the developing and designing of radio studios at the Radio Park building at the SABC.

He also was a founding member of the APK (Afrikaanse Protostante Kerk) Krugersdorp.

He was an outdoor fanatic and involved with various angling bodies and associations.

He will be missed greatly and is survived by his wife Magda with whom he was married to for 51 years, his son Werner, daughter Cindy, son-in-law Willie and grandchildren Crystal and Ruben.

His memorial service took place on 16 August.
