Video: Cruising their way towards two world records
More than 300 Toyota Land Cruiser owners gathered in Tarlton to set two new world records.
Over 300 Toyota Land Cruisers from as far as Botswana, Namibia and Mossel Bay cruised their way into the world record books.
The event, held at the Tarlton International Raceway this past Saturday (30 August), saw invited Land Cruiser owners taking part in two world record attempts, namely the most Land Cruisers on one site and the most moving Land Cruisers in one convoy.

Marius Opperman of Trio Events who organised the event for the N1 4×4 Pretoria, a business that saw the need for used Land Cruisers in Southern Africa, says the day was a huge success.
“We are satisfied with the turnout of vehicles and more so as The South African Book of Records representatives, who monitored the record attempt, were able to confirm a new record.”

A total of 365 Land Cruisers got together on site and a total of 334 were counted taking part in the moving convoy of about 23 km.
Opperman says they are planning to host this event annually.
“Our aim is to get over 1 000 Land Cruiser owners together on site. This it is a great way to get families and everyone out of the concrete jungle.”
Steyn Fourie, Jan Lotheringen and eight-year-old Jandré, who quickly made it clear that Land Cruisers are the best, were among the participants.

“The Cruiser culture is very healthy. We are excited to be part of the record attempt but are also enjoying the company and the people we get to meet and with whom we share a passion for the vehicles – that is even more special to us.”
Duard Terblanche from Centurion saw an advert on facebook about the record attempt and decided to take part.
“I too have a passion for the vehicles and I really am enjoying the day.”
