Video: BMW speedster caught on camera
A Krugersdorp News journalist was on his way to the office when a speeding BMW driver quickly squeezed in front of him, not caring that he could have caused a serious accident.
Rude hand gestures, kisses and no care in the world for being photographed.
This was the response of the man in the maroon BMW M6 with registration number M_WHAAT GP after being made aware that he was speeding on the R28 from Randfontein towards Krugersdorp on 7 October.
While news journalist Jacobus Myburgh was on his way back to the office after covering a story at West Village, he noticed a speeding vehicle in his rear-view mirror, well over the speed limit of 80km/h.
Myburgh was driving in the right-hand lane because two large trucks were occupying the left-hand lane. This, however, did not bother the driver of the BMW who, within a few seconds and a few metres from a four-way stop squeezed in in front of his vehicle.
When Myburgh hooted at him as his actions could have caused a serious accident, the BMW driver threw a few offensive signals at Myburgh.
Myburgh started taking photos and a video of the vehicle after which the driver, while looking in his rear-view mirror, indicated that Myburgh could take as many photographs as he pleased and even applauded his attempt.
The driver also leaned out of his window to blow a few kisses at Myburgh before speeding off.

The R28, already dubbed the road of death because of the fatal accidents it is known for has become a racing track for speedsters, but traffic authorities are nowhere to be seen.

Instead, a ‘green mamba’ has been put up along Windsor Road and a Mogale City Local Municipality traffic vehicle with no-one inside was spotted at a nearby take-away shop for the umpteenth time this past month.
One wonders why traffic officers are not more visible on dangerous roads where speedsters seem to have the upper hand.
The news would like to know from the traffic authorities whether reaching their monthly financial targets of collecting traffic fines are more important than human lives.
Do you agree that speedsters like the BMW driver should be named and shamed? Tell us what you think by leaving a comment.
