Kenmare pupils practise the art of CPR

Pupils learn valuable life-saving skills.

As part of the National Health Awareness Calendar, the team from Netcare Krugersdorp Hospital taught a number of pupils at a local primary school some life-saving skills.

CPR Week ran from 3 to 8 November and formed part of Netcare Krugersdorp’s Health Awareness campaign.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, commonly known as CPR, is an emergency medical procedure performed to restore blood circulation and breathing in a person whose heart has stopped beating.

Celebrating Health Week, Netcare Krugersdorp’s Basic Life Instructors targeted local primary school, Laerskool Kenmare for the project.

Basic life support skills such as hands-only CPR were demonstrated to the pupils who attended the after-school enrichment classes.

Boys and girls from Grades 2 to 7 enjoyed learning this valuable and potentially life-saving skill.
