Investing in her children’s future after big win
Today Busisiwe is financially secure after paying off her debt and investing the rest of her R75 000 winnings.
Busisiwe Buthelezi, 44, is a single mother of two teenagers and she is a domestic worker.
In her quest to empower and provide for her children, Busisiwe joined PEPclub and entered the Win Your Dream Competition in the hope of winning big.
In August 2013 she was surprised at her home when Tumi Masemola informed her that she had won R75 000 in the PEPclub Win Your Dream Competition.
“I was so shocked and did not know what was happening. Tumi kept calling my name but I was too shocked and scared at the same time,” said Busisiwe.
PEPclub is the PEP customer loyalty programme, introduced in 2006.
It allows customers the opportunity to win every time they shop and swipe their PEPclub loyalty cards. In 2013 PEPclub has given away over R2,3 million in cash prizes to 28 members as part of the Win Your Dream Competition.
PEP is one of South Africa’s oldest and biggest single brand retailers with operations in Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho.
Through PEPcell it is responsible for almost 50 per cent of sales of all prepaid cellphone handsets in South Africa, making it the biggest prepaid handset retailer in the country.
Today Busisiwe is financially secure after paying off her debt and investing the rest of her R75 000 winnings, which will allow her to pay for her children’s studies one day.
She also used part of her winnings to renovate her RDP house by adding additional rooms and bought new furniture. She is very happy to have the means to send her children to varsity to further their studies and fulfil their own dreams.
“We are inspired by people like Busisiwe who dream beyond their current circumstances and strive to make their dreams come true. PEP is committed to the communities we serve and want to provide them with opportunities to grow, look and feel good in every aspect of their lives,” said Deon van der Westhuizen, PEPclub Marketing Manager.
