Seven years of God’s glory
Church continues to grow after concerns about their casino based location.
The community of Krugersdorp is invited to celebrate seven years of glory with the Rhema West Church this February.
From the church’s humble days in a marionette theater in Westcliff back in 2008, the church has since grown to a substantial congregation and now runs multiple services from their new ‘home’ at Silverstar.
With a shared passion for saving lost souls, Pastor Norman and his wife Gerda Clark have decided to spend their time in the West Rand.
The couple started their ministry journey in 2007, when they started the Cedarhill Christian Church the following year.
Since most of their members came from the West Rand, they steadily moved closer.
“From Westcliff, to Westdene, to the West Rand,” Pastor Norman says.
When they finally moved their church to the Silverstar Platinum Ballroom in 2010, they were still known as Cedarhill, affiliated with the International Federation of Christian Churches.
As that Federation clarified its structure, the church became more closely associated with the Rhema Family of Churches.
As soon as the press got hold of the news that a Rhema Church is meeting in a casino, some articles appeared in national newspapers.
“Rhema West maintains that Jesus Christ was not inhibited by location when it came to spending time with people.”
When looking for a venue to meet in the West Rand, it was a challenge to find one that met their needs. Pastor Norman approached Silverstar about using their banqueting facilities and found them most helpful.
“We are actually renting the ballroom at Silverstar, and not the actual casino. However, we love being in a venue that is accessible, offers covered parking and is air-conditioned,” says Pastor Norman.
The church has since grown to two services on a Sunday and an additional service on a Wednesday evening.
