An eyewitness told bystanders how they saw the victim in the water when he lost grip of his water bottle which floated down the stream. The victim then asked the witnesses to fetch the bottle for him, when he suddenly disappeared under water.

K9 police divers, emergency services personnel, police and the CPF then worked together to remove the body from the water.

In a previous incident a man was was found dead on 2 January, standing in an upright position under the water and was allegedly killed for muti after CPF members confirmed that his throat and private parts were cut.
