Diabetic driver blacks out behind the wheel

Unfortunate event results in chain reaction.

A motorist confirmed to be a diabetic blacked out while driving on the West Rand on Friday afternoon, writes Roxy de Villiers, journalist of Randfontein Herald, who happened to be passing by the scene.

The unfortunate incident resulted in a chain reaction. It is believed the man was driving on Voortrekker Road in Krugersdorp when he blacked out, crashed into a truck transporting cement, hit a Jeep and then a Mercedes-Benz.

The Krugersdorp Fire Department and ER24 had to cut the man out of his vehicle.

According to Bradley Smith, Founder and Executive member of Quick Response Services, “He is a diabetic and it most probably was what caused the blackout.

“The man wasn’t injured seriously.”
